Beach Wedding

Your big day is fast approaching, and it is time to think about the little details that will make that day perfect. If you have opted for a beach wedding, you are fortunate in that you have many options for wedding decorations that will make your location sparkle.

Lighting

Whether for an evening wedding or for the reception that follows an afternoon wedding, lighting is something that will likely have to be addressed. There are several ways that you can light up the sky while remaining true to your chosen locale. For instance, beach lanterns are a fun and funky way to brighten your big event. They come in a large variety of colors, patterns, sizes and even shapes, so that you are able to pick the perfect one to complement your beach wedding.

Tiki torches are another entertaining way to add a bit of light to the darkening sky. These, too, come in a variety of styles. From bowl shapes to those that resemble spears, this fire laden lighting source is also a great way to deter any buzzing pests.

Small bon fires are an excellent way to light your evening wedding or reception festivities, while also adding a bit of warmth to the cool night air. By lighting several very small bonfires around the ceremony (in an easily controlled manner), you can give a truly unique, almost native feel to the celebration.

If fire is not allowed, or simply isn't your thing, there is another way to add some stunning interest to your ceremony and reception. Strung lights are always visually interesting, but with the wide variety of shapes and sizes now available, they can be the perfect addition to any wedding celebration. You might consider a star shape to resemble the night sky, hearts to romanticize the joining of the couple, or the standard white twinkle light for a bit of simple splendor.

Natural Elements

Those decorations that are intended just to add beauty can be a lot of fun while planning a beach wedding. Shells, sea glass, stones, sticks and sand are the big five "S's" when decorating for a beach celebration. Shells can be strung and hung around the perimeter of the ceremony, or displayed in or around candles as centerpieces for the tables. Sea glass looks beautiful when displayed in glass jars or bowls. It provides a soft, sea-like splash of color to any setting. Small stones or even large rocks can also make perfect backdrops and accents.

Set the wedding near the rocks on the beach and line the aisle on each side with smaller stones and the ceremony will take on a very natural feel. In between the rows of stones, you might consider a natural runner. Mix a large amount of sand with food color, Kool-Aid, or other natural dying agent to create a runner in whatever color you choose. Just shovel the sand and lay it out as desired and you will be ready to make the long walk toward your intended.
